Departure from Karakol
To catch the #315 Marshrutka, you must head to the dedicated southern transport location at 220 Derbishev Street in Karakol. Unlike the main bazaar routes, this specific hub hosts vehicles strictly following the southern shore of Lake Issyk-Kul. The #315 connects Karakol directly with the main transit square in Bokonbayevo village. Vehicles leave continuously throughout the day as soon as all seats are full. The ticket price typically runs between 250 and 300 KGS.
Important Highway Reconstruction Warning
⚠️ Traveler Alert: A massive, total reconstruction project is currently underway across large sections of the southern lakeside highway.
Because of active heavy machinery, unpaved gravel detours, and stretches where the old asphalt has been completely removed, the 132 km journey is slow, bumpy, and dusty. The ride will reliably take 2.5 to 3 hours. We strongly recommend keeping the minibus windows closed against the construction dust and packing your large backpacks securely into the rear luggage storage.
Arriving and Returning
The #315 drops you off at the main bus stop in central Bokonbayevo, right next to the local bazaar and within short walking distance of the local CBT office. To return to Karakol, you can wait at this exact same terminal or flag down the returning #315 or any shared taxi heading east along the main road. Public minibuses stop running by late afternoon (around 16:30 – 17:30).
